Cosmographies
Mixed media paintings, some fairly large and heavily layered.
The Webb telescope, advancements in quantum physics, and the explosion of AI are extending our visual reach in unprecedented ways. In this climate I find myself recalling my childhood fascination with astronomy (the Apollo 11 landing left a mark on my six-year-old psyche); the clairvoyant channeling of Jane Roberts (who lived down the road from me in Elmira, New York); and that old science fiction trope that all our radio and television broadcasts have been traveling through the heavens for the past century, listened to by aliens. Add Johannes Kepler to the mix, his notion that the celestial spheres make a sort of soul music, coupled with my own imaginal whimsy that everything written, said, or thought might, why not, somehow leak out of our atmosphere into the heavens, and you get the fantasia behind this ongoing series.
